I know many people who got laid off over the past few years. Some bounced back to find a job and some didn’t find jobs in a timely manner. Losing your job is scary. It’s your financial life line so it’s important to land a job. One important way is to keep yourself relevant. Relevant within your industry, relevant within your network, relevant within your circle of influence, and relevant with your local area.

Every industry is constantly changing. Whether it’s technology, carpentry, travel, logistics, data analytics, policy, and other industries they are all evolving. New techniques are being developed, new devices, new companies and competitors are constantly popping up. So it’s in your best interest to stay up to speed and relevant in your industry so you stay markable in the event you need to find a new job.

Staying connected within your network and industry is important. To know who is relevant, who are the influencers, who are decision makers, who is leading the next generation in your industry is important. Knowing people in key positions or status can help you stay connected and knowing these type of people can land you a job.

Don’t stay complacent. It will keep you lagging behind the next generation of people who are eager and willing to lessen the latest and greatest in their line of work. Don’t fall behind your competition. Your competition is everyone. Keeping yourself relevant is key to staying employed and staying employed will keep you on track to your financial independence goals. If you are interested in following my journey, email subscribe here to get alerts of latest posts or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest
