Employer contributions and earnings have high potential

Employer contributions and earnings have high potential

If you have a retirement account with your employer such as a 401K and they contribute towards by matching a percentage, have you ever thought to wonder what that equates to? My employer matches 5%. When I hear that, my thought is that 5% of my retirement account is from my employer and 95% is from my contributions. What I didn’t factor is the potential earnings the 5% would carry. Employer contributions and its earnings have high potential to increase your portfolio.

Surprisingly, I never paid a lot of attention to my monthly statements because they are all digital. I recently viewed my latest retirement statement and it actually showed some useful and intersting information. The first graph on the first page had a percentage ratio that caught my eye…a 69% from me to 31% employer contribution graph.

What does this show? It’s not the 95% to 5% ratio that I thought. When I looked further this chart represents not just contributions but also includes the earnings. This also tells me that the 5% employer contribution has more potential than I first imagined. It has growth and earnings potential that should not be overlooked.

If your employer offers a retirement plan and has an employer contribution, don’t miss out on it. You may think that it’s such a small contribution not worth it but over time it has the potential to grow. After looking at my retirement more closer, I’m a believer that employer contributions and earnings have high potential to accelerate your financial journey. I started funding my retirement account starting from my first job and haven’t stopped. With retirement contributions, employer matching, and growth and earnings, you too can have an amazing portfolio. Not only consider the contribution amount but the potential growth that is has. If you are interested in following my journey and their journey, follow them on Instagram and email subscribe to get alerts of latest posts or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest
