There are risk takers and there are risk avoiders. I, myself, am more of a risk avoider especially when it comes to things I’m not familiar with. Normally, I like to take my time to research and learn the topic at hand until I’m comfortable. When I look back, there are many situations where I probably took too long to research. I probably took too long researching how to start a blog and learning cryptocurrency. One of the risks of taking too long is missing out on opportunities. Don’t take too long to jump into the fire.

When it comes to your finances, it’s even more important to know what you’re getting yourself into. Anything dealing with finances has some involvement of risk. There’s always that chance that you can lose money. I’ve made a number of financial investments and all of them had some sort of risk. After you do your research or even before you complete your research, sometimes you just have to jump into the fire. If I hadn’t taken these risks, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. I probably wouldn’t have multiple financial accounts, a rental property, or even a blog.

One of the benefits for jumping right in is not missing out on opportunity. Imagine if you jumped right in when cryptocurrency had just started instead of waiting and researching what this concept was. What about Tesla and the electric car? Imagine investing in Tesla early on instead of waiting to see how the Electric Vehicle sector will play out.

What about real estate investing or investing in stocks or IPOs? It took me over 5 years to finally start this blog. Instead of jumping right in and buying a domain name, I just kept researching and reading about what the best hosting is, the best platform to go with, what I want to blog about, and next thing you know the hype of starting one died out.

What are some other reasons holding you back from jumping into the fire? Is the risk too high? Are you out of your comfort zone? Not willing to put in the time and effort? One thing I learned from investing and blogging, it takes time, effort, and work. Out of my comfort zone? Absolutely! But I learned a ton and gained so much experience. Did I lose money along the way? Yes, I did but it wasn’t for nothing. Again, I gained a lot of experience through it which is the price you might have to pay.

If you’re thinking about doing something like create a YouTube channel, create a blog, learn a new hobby, or anything else, don’t take too much time thinking about it. I came across a quote “If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it.” I think this says it all. Nothing is going to fall in your lap. Don’t make excuses either because you’ll keep pushing your goals further back. Don’t take too long to jump into the fire.
