You Might Be Wondering…
You might be wondering…why on earth would I create a blog about early retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic, during a time of financial distress and economic unknown? I asked myself the same question. Would anyone take me seriously? How could I blog about early retirement when people are financially struggling and the real unemployment rate pasts 20%? Here’s what happened. I’ve been fortunate to stay employed and work from home. My daily commute went from 3 hours to 15 seconds. I’ve been catching up on my shows and movies. The first month of working from home was not normal, didn’t feel right. This was the reality though and no matter what, my family and I needed to make the best of it. I couldn’t just watch shows and movies. I figured this could be the opportunity for me to start the blog I always wanted to try. I always used the excuse that I never had enough time to create one because of our busy lives.
Well, I have the time. My kids are old enough that they don’t need Daddy every single second. My wife says “Go for it!” She’s very savvy when it comes to social media and influencing so she liked the idea. The toughest part was figuring out what to blog about. What am I good at? What do I know a lot about? What could I possibly talk about that readers might want to read? I thought about it and asked what have I been talking about recently and what keeps staying on my mind? For the past 3 years, I’ve been thinking about early retirement. How good it would feel not having to work a full time day job with a 3 hour commute, spend more time with family, and enjoying the time which you will never get back.
What do I need to do to get there? What’s the plan? One thing is for sure…money is definitely involved. I have to say that my family finances are not bad especially when you read articles like this.
But are my finances enough? When will I know enough is enough? How will I support my kids higher education? How can I afford health care if I quit my job that provides health insurance? I don’t have all the answers but I will blog about what life decisions I’ve made and will make to help me build my early retirement portfolio.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her
ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
