When it comes to building a financial independent life, it’s doesn’t happen overnight. It is a long process, a transformation, and a life long journey. Do you want to change your financial status? Do you want to increase your income, decrease your debt, and start having a positive balance? Where do you start? You start with yourself. You need to look at yourself and start making changes. Change doesn’t happen overnight.

When you are going to school, you don’t fast track grades K-12 unless you’re gifted. You have to take all the years of school to graduate but during this time, other things are happening to you. You’re building friendships, you’re maturing, you’re growing, you’re learning, and so on.

Same thing with making changes to improve your financials. It takes time and unless you’re gifted, there’s no fast track. It takes time for money to grow. It takes time for you to learn. It takes time for you to experience growth and losses. It takes time to change your mindset.

Once you start to make changes, it takes time to see the results of those changes. Let’s say you started setting aside some money each month into savings hoping it grows. Well, you’re contributing to your savings once a month. It’s not going to grow quick but over time it will result in growth.

I started investing in my 401K over 25 years ago maxing out the contribution limits. I remember someone older telling me that I just needed to do a 401K so I took the advice and here I am. I continue to invest in my retirement and I cannot tell you how important that advice was 25 years ago. Plus the amount of time for my investments to grow makes a huge difference. My money has 25 years worth of growth.

Change is difficult and it shouldn’t be a reason for you not to pursue the things you want. When I first got into real estate investing, it was a change. I became a landlord overnight. It was a huge change and I learned the hard way that real estate investing is not all glamours and there are downsides to it. But I got familiar with it and it didn’t happen overnight.

The journey towards financial independence requires change. You have to be patient. You have to be persistent. You have to be consistent. It’s a journey and change doesn’t happen overnight.
